Getting to Know the Sparrow

The petite and delicate Florida Grasshopper Sparrows, otherwise known as Ammodramus savannarum floridanus, are quickly being eradicated from their homes due to human activity, such as converting their homes, trees and the surrounding area, into land for grazing and agriculture. This 13-centimeter bird is helpless and will not survive much longer without your help!

Most people do not even know that this bird exists, not to mention that it is on the verge of extinction. This bird needs an advocate and a voice in this world (Florida Grasshopper Sparrow, 1986). This highlights the importance of education about this bird. By educating and informing others about this sparrow we demonstrate the many values and purposes it serves, and inform ways that individual citizens can help save this endangered species.

Save the Sparrows!
